CHICOPEE, MA (WSHM) -

Cardinal Sean O'Malley, the leader of the Archdiocese of Boston and a man mentioned last year as a potential next Pope, was in Western Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon.

O'Malley was the keynote speaker at the annual Men's Conference held by the Diocese of Springfield.

Four hundred catholic men gathered at the Bellamy School for a daylong event, featuring speakers focused on this year's theme "Return to me with all your heart."

O'Malley told the group that Catholics have a lot of work to do.

"Pope Francis is calling on all of us to be missionaries in our own communities," said O'Malley. "In this new millennium, business as usual is not enough."

O'Malley is considered one of Pope Francis' closest advisers.

He is the only American in the Pope's group of eight, who are reviewing a possible reorganization of the Vatican congregations and offices.
