SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a man in west Shreveport.

Police spokesman Marcus Hines says police were called to the intersection of Ashton Street and Park Avenue just before 6 p.m. Saturday to a report of a stabbing.

Authorities discovered 50-year-old Earnest Wyatt suffering multiple stab sounds to his upper back and left side. Wyatt was taken to University Health Medical Center where he underwent surgery for injuries that were described as potentially life-threatening.

Investigators from the Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Unit and crime scene investigators responded to the scene and learned that Wyatt was at his home in the 1700 block of Looney Street when he was reportedly stabbed by a man he knew.

The man reportedly fled the home on foot. Investigators haven't determined the motive for the stabbing, but Hines says they are confident that the suspect will be taken into custody.
