Released by the Smith County Sheriff's Office:

SMITH COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on SH 135 between Troup and Arp, then move to SH 135 near the Overton City Limits.

A second crew is scheduled to resume base and pavement repairs on East Loop 323 in Tyler between the Loop 323 Extension and Commerce Street.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zone.

Looking ahead to the week of April 7, construction crews from contractor APAC-Dallas, Inc. are scheduled to begin work to reshape northbound US 69 between Toll 49 and Cumberland Road to lower the grade of the roadway to allow better access and sight distance into the new development in the area.

The project will also add two traffic signals in the area to facilitate easier access for southbound traffic turning into the development.

During construction, the speed limit in the area will be reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph and traffic will regularly be reduced to one lane, particularly on the northbound side.
The $2.1 million project has been completely funded by the developer.
