Montgomery Symphony Orchestra names new executive director

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Symphony is announcing its new executive director following the recent death of its previous director.

Montgomery native Kim Cauthen Wolfe will step into the roll that was held by Helen Steineker prior to her untimely death last December.

Wolfe is a third generation musician, having started her violin studies at the age of 5. She later performed with the Montgomery Youth Orchestra. She also studied with several of the Symphony's violin fellows through its Fellowship Regency Program. She is a graduate of Huntingdon College.

"Montgomery has a fantastic network of teachers and musicians," Wolfe says. "I wouldn't be where I am today without the special teachers and individuals who have invested time in helping me cultivate my love of music."

Wolfe has also pursued piano and voice, ultimately landing at Boston University's Tanglewood Institute for its summer vocal program. She comes to the Montgomery Symphony from the Alabama Association of Independent Colleges and Universities where she spent the last five years as director of fund raising.

Wolfe's position is effective starting April 14.
