BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A man was arrested on Thursday after an incident on the grounds of the Jefferson County Learning Center near Tarrant.

Sheriff's deputies say 32-year-old Antonio Wilson entered school grounds and shouted and cursed at a student. He was confronted by a deputy serving as the schools resource officer. Deputies say he brandished a handgun after being confronted and retreated to his home near the school.

The school was placed on lockdown during the situation. The suspect came out from his home, surrendered and was taken into custody.

Warrants are sought for terroristic threat, criminal trespass, carrying a pistol without a license and menacing. He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
