MAAS Metal Polish

Does it Work Wednesday

Here's another product that claims to cut-down on cleaning time. MAAS metal polish promises to restore and protect, and provide lasting shine.

An advertisement attracted Jerris Burrell's attention. And the price piqued her curiosity even more. "I'm a bargain shopper, so when I saw the price I was, like, hmmnn!" the Cape Girardeau volunteer explained.

For about $10 a bottle, MAAS claims to instantly remove years of residue, rust, tarnish and oxidation from all metals and other things like Plexiglas, fiberglass, enamel, resin, plastic, and glass. "Directions say to shake well, add sparingly to a soft, dry cloth," Jerris, known as J., reads the directions. "Wipe off the surface. Do not let the polish dry. Use a clean, soft cloth and wipe it off."

J. will be tickled If it's really as easy as "wipe on, wipe off" because she's wasted a lot of time struggling with other polishes. "A long time... You can see we have lots of it!" she waves at display cases full of silver.

She squeezes a small amount onto a cloth and rubs the silver. "Oh, look at that, what do you think?" Amy Jacquin asks J. "It's working!" she laughs in delight. Suddenly J. sees a bright spot in her future when it comes to keeping her silver shining. "And it's coming off with no effort whatsoever," she marvels. "I'm not rubbing hard, no."

And a little goes a long way, "Even bringing a little bit of that residue left over, is still polishing it."

Amy and J. see a remarkable difference between the part she polished, and the side still teeming with tarnish.

Another MAAS product is geared specifically for stainless steel sinks. "It instantly removes dirt, dust, fingerprints, grease, and water spots while applying protection against their reappearance," J. reads out loud.

MAAS says it's gentle, with no abrasives, yet touts to be tough-enough to get-up the grime. J's sink was not really dirty to begin with, but they DO notice a difference after using MAAS. "It looks different," J. admits. "You can tell that it's shinier than the other side."

They can't explain how it works, only that it does, kind-of like your own cleaning genie! "I think this is some good stuff," J. nods.

That about sums it up. MAAS metal polish products earn an A.

New federal regulations have changed what many kids who attend public schools eat for lunch at school. However, some area private schools don't have to follow those rules and have come up with their own new school lunch program.
