The First Lady will address 243 graduating students along with their friends, family and the Dillard University faculty during the commencement ceremony on May 10 at 10 a.m.

Michelle Obama studied sociology and African-American studies at Princeton and graduated Harvard Law School in 1988.

As first lady, she started the "Let's Move!" initiative to bring together community leaders, teachers, doctors, nurses and parents in a nationwide effort to fight childhood obesity.

According to a release from Dillard University, Michelle Obama continues to work on issues such as supporting military families, helping women work to balance career and family, encouraging national service, promoting the arts and arts education and fostering healthy habits for children and families.

Dillard will host its baccalaureate service on the Avenue of the Oaks on Friday, May 9 at 6 PM.  Rev. Jamal-Harrison Bryant, pastor of the Empowerment Temple (ET) in Baltimore, will give the baccalaureate address.

Dillard's Alumni Reunion 2014 begins on Thursday, May 8 and runs through Sunday, May 11. Legendary jazz singer Germaine Bazzle will be the featured guest artist in the Dillard Theater's production of Ain't Misbehavin' at 7:30 p.m. on May 8 in the Georges Auditorium on Dillard's campus. This timeless musical is Dillard University's 2014 Pre-Commencement Scholarship Benefit. All proceeds will go toward student scholarships.
