Retired Troy Police Officer found not guilty in child sex abuse case

TROY, AL (WSFA) -

On Tuesday a retired Troy Police Officer has been found not guilty by a unanimous verdict for charges relating to sexual abuse of a minor.

According to court documents 61-year-old Willie Toney has been found not guilty on charges of rape first degree, attempted sodomy first degree and two counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

Toney was originally indicted in 2012 and was facing life in prison for each rape and sodomy count plus up to 20 years for each sex abuse count.
