JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A mother is pleading for leads in her daughter's homicide.

Ask Michelle Monroe Stewart to describe her daughter and she'll gladly tell you.

"A sincere, fun loving young lady, outgoing at times. She was my heart. My first born, she's just everything to me," she said.

That's Stewart can't stop crying can't believe 22-year-old Megan Elizabeth Monroe is dead. Stewart remembers the last time she saw her on Thursday, April 17.

"She had an appointment. I dropped her off. There was friend planning to pick her up," she said.

But Stewart would later learn that friend never connected with Megan and didn't know where she was. Realizing Megan is an adult, Stewart tried not to worry. Friday passed and Saturday, then came Easter.

"I really think Sunday, Easter, I knew she'd be here. She would not miss Easter. I knew there was something wrong," she said.

She began calling hospitals and eventually the coroner who told her a woman's body had been found. A few hours later Stewart learned it was not only Megan, but that her body had dumped and set on fire behind a vacant home in Fairfield.

"I don't know what kind of person would do that. Not only is she not with us anymore, but they took away my chance, my family's chance to see her one last time to say goodbye. They just robbed us," Stewart said through tears.

She says she's beyond anger, but does want answers and she believes there are people who have them. She's asking them to come forward to police.

"I'm just asking and begging these people to do the right thing. Do the right thing. She didn't deserve this. Nobody does," she said.
