Victim involved in shooting on Friday in Montgomery dies

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Police have confirmed to WSFA 12 News that the victim who suffered a gunshot wound in a shooting on Friday in Montgomery has died.

Jamie Cooks, 21, was pronounced dead after being shot in what police say was a domestic related incident.

Police arrested Lashonda Preston Saturday for attempted murder after she allegedly shot Cooks. Upgraded charges against Preston are pending at this time as police continue to investigate.

The shooting occurred at the 6000 block of Alight Road at Cherry Hill Road.

This is Montgomery's 5th homicide in 2014.
