TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Police have arrested and charged a Toledo man with rape, two weeks after it happened.

Raymond Green Jr., 18, was arrested early Friday morning after he was found hiding in a basement. He faces charges of rape and abduction with a sexual motivation. Police say he held a knife to a woman's throat and forced her to perform a sex act.

His victim, who is in her 50s, claims she was abducted, held at knifepoint and forced to perform oral sex. It happened two weeks ago, but on Thursday, she recognized her attacker when he walked past her near Greenwood and East Broadway in east Toledo.

"I mean, they're already supposed to be bringing more police officers, but it really hasn't affected nothing. I think people are starting to care less and less about what the police are going to do," said Cassandra and Jimmy, employees at Metro Pawn.

Green was arraigned Friday morning and charged with one count of rape and abduction.

Sadly, the news of such a horrific attack doesn't shock Joseph Hill, who says he has fought off would-be robbers there in the past.

"I knocked a couple down one time a few weeks ago, waiting for a bus over here," said Hill.

Cassandra says crime in the area seems to be going up.

"That's why I don't really go anywhere without him, and when it comes to my daughter, she always has an adult supervision with her at all times, and a cell phone just for them type of reasons," she explained.
