HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A south Huntsville man accused of killing his wife before attempting suicide has a bond hearing next month.

Robin Penton is charged with the murder of his wife, Colleen, and is in jail on a $50,000 bond.

Investigators said Penton shot and killed Colleen and then tried to overdose on pills back in March. Police responded to the couple's home on Thornmor Drive after he left a message with his brother saying he killed his wife.

Penton's bond hearing is May 7.
