CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
We are coming up on the first anniversary of "Found Alive" -- the amazing story of three women held inside Ariel Castro's house for a decade.

Charles Ramsey gained national attention on the day Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight gained their freedom.

Monday 19 Action News reporter Dan DeRoos sat down with the man who was thrust into 15 minutes of fame. And his new book, Dead Giveaway, gives you a small insight to it.

"The book is dedicated to Ashley the love of my life. Which is my daughter. Every interview, every interview from now on is going to start with that. And then we go on with the interview," stated Charles Ramsey.

Ramsey is credited with helping Amanda Berry kick in the front door of Ariel Castro's house.

He came into our studios to publicize the book and we didn't hold back.
In the beginning Ramsey wanted to stay humble. Didn't want a burger named after him, he gave away the $1,000 in McDonald's gift cards the company sent him.

So why now? Why make money on his 15 minutes of fame, ironically charging $15 for the book.

"What would you say to those critics? Because there will be some who watch this story tonight who say......" asked DeRoos.

"I hope so. I hope they give me $15 and then criticize. Don't criticize before you give me the 15 bucks. It don't make no sense," Ramsey stated.

"The critics going to have a problem with me trying to make a few dollars for my child? Are the critics heartless? First give me 15 bucks," answered Ramsey.

"How much money are you going to make on this?" asked DeRoos.

"Hopefully 9 trillion," Ramsey answered.

The book takes you through some of Ramsey's life. A practical joker as a kid, a drug dealer as an adult and says drama always found him. Much like May 6,2013 on Seymour. He says it's like a roller coaster and he still hasn't gotten off.

"I'm never going to get it in my head that my next door neighbor was that sinister and yet so humble. It doesn't go together," Ramsey stated.
