GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -

The cell phone of missing Gibson County teen, Richard Deffendall, was last "pinged" in central Florida. That's according to Gibson County Sheriff George Ballard.

The 18-year-old's parents say they are growing more concerned by the hour, hoping someone has information on where their son might be.

14 News spoke with his parents, Kelley and Joyce Deffendall.

They tell us Richard didn't show up for class Tuesday. He's a senior at Princeton Community High School.

They also say he didn't show up for work Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies are trying to 'ping' Richard's cell phone. Joyce says before the central Florida ping on Wednesday afternoon authorities got a ping on Richard's phone just before 9:00 Tuesday night, south of Atlanta.

She says she believes someone else might have his phone. She also believes her son is in danger.

Authorities believe Richard is driving a red 1997 GMC Sonoma truck with polished wheels - Indiana plate TK914MNL. Officials say he took the truck to a car shop Tuesday where he bought a belt for it.

Joyce Deffendall tells 14 News that the truck was possibly sighted in Frankfort and authorities are looking into that.

Richard is described as six-feet-tall, weighing 114 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. If you have any information on where he might be, call 911.
