Louisville businesses to promote Purely Local

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Local businesses are drinking up the idea of promoting Purely Local, a way to share the great taste of Louisville tap water.

Thursday, Mayor Greg Fischer touted the initiative for businesses that offer reusable pitchers, recyclable cups and bottles and access to Louisville water.

The co-founder of The Comfy Cow, Tim Koons-McGee, said it just makes sense for local businesses to help other local businesses and can't imagine operating the ice cream shop without Louisville Water.

"It's an integral part of what we do everyday. Our sorbets are just water and fruit. And any of our baked goods, our baked goods from scratch, um we use Louisville pure tap water and I think that adds to the fact that they taste so great," he said.

More than 30 businesses are participating in the Purely Local initiative which coincides with National Drinking Water Week.
