SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Police arrested a man early Sunday morning for drug trafficking after they said he attempted to beat up his ex-girlfriend.

CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that 31-year-old Stanley Mims is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home on East Bay Path Terrace.

Police said when she called for help, Mims drove away.

They tracked down his GMC Yukon and took Mims into custody after a brief foot chase.

Police said Mims' vehicle had 27 grams of crack cocaine.

He will be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Monday.
