Former Gamecocks soccer player could make final US World Cup roster

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A former Gamecocks men's soccer has a shot at making the final roster for the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team in time for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Brad Guzan, Team USA's No. 2 goalkeeper, was named to the 30-man preliminary roster on Monday by coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

If selected for the final 23-man roster, this would be Guzan's second appearance on the U.S. squad in the World Cup.

The USMNT opens World Cup play against Ghana on June 16.
