ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) -

A Rock Hill man arrested for attempted murder after shooting his girlfriend in the head appeared in court Thursday.

Police say 23-year-old Travis Robinson was arrested early Thursday morning after he shot his girlfriend of eight years, Seanquavious Chisholm, in the head during an argument.

Chisholm knocked on several neighbors' doors before one called 911. She was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte and was listed as being in stable condition Thursday afternoon.

Officials told WBTV she was shot with a .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun and suffered a fractured skull.

Robinson was arrested a short distance away from the couple's home on High Street. The gun was also located near the scene.

A neighbor told WBTV the couple had only lived in the home a couple of months, and that it was not uncommon to see them arguing.

In court, Robinson did not say much, but asked about his girlfriend's condition and apologized for his actions.

"Will my girlfriend be alright?" he asked, adding, "I just want to say I'm sorry."

Michelle Gallo, a friend of Chisholm's, says she hopes Robinson never gets out of jail.

"He could have taken her from a lot of people," she said, "That was a very selfish act to do. He thinks because of his insecurities, he can take her from us, but she's very blessed and God has a plan for her, so he allowed her to make it through."

Robinson is charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. He is being held on a $525,000 bond.
