K-9 flushes out burglary suspect

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man arrested for burglary is also recovering from his encounter with a police dog.

Louisville Metro Police were called to the 2300 block of Parkwood at 10:15 a.m. May 15 after a burglary in progress was reported. Officers found the front door glass had been broken and called for a LMPD K-9 to search the home.

The officer and dog found Matthew Blackerby, 31, inside the home. Blackerby was taken into custody, but suffered several dog bites to his left leg and arm.

After being taken to University Hospital for treatment, Blackerby was booked at Louisville Metro Correction on a burglary charge.
