MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

It was a bold crime in the middle of the day. A victim said two women kidnapped her at gunpoint, then drove her to a bank to withdraw thousands of dollars.

At noon in a Northwest Broad Street parking lot in Murfreesboro, people are walking into K-Mart, climbing into cars, heading toward big chain stores and pulling around busy drive-thrus. That's why Austin Harris of 2-4-6-8 Fabrics said he's shocked no one noticed a kidnapping within sight of his store.

"You'd think everyone's being alert and can see anything happen," said Harris. "I'm sure somebody saw something but just didn't know it."

Thursday, Murfreesboro police said a woman was sitting in the parking lot when her car was approached by two women who pulled open the door and climbed in. At gunpoint, the two crooks forced the victim to take off down the street and head into a Heritage Park Dr. Suntrust Bank to withdraw $8,000. After the bank, the crooks had the victim drive back to the same parking lot. As they took off, they told her to stay in the car and not leave.

Murfreesboro police said surveillance video caught images of one of the two crooks inside the bank.

"It's wild," said Harris. "I didn't see it coming at all. I didn't see anything unusual. I'm completely surprised."

Still impressed something so scary could go on without anyone taking notice, Harris said he'll be on the lookout for the woman in the picture.

"We're just going to try to be more aware," said Harris.

The victim in the case declined to appear on camera but told Channel 4 she felt the crooks had to be watching her and the area, and knew to strike when no one was looking.
