(CNN) - Some cities are better equipped than others to keep your family entertained, so if you're staying close to home this summer, here are the best and worst staycation spots.

This list is courtesy of WalletHub, which considered 20 key factors that are can make or break your staycation, like the number of accessible swimming pools in your area, the number of public golf courses, the most museums per capita and the weather, among other factors.

The top five best places to staycation start with Buffalo, NY, followed by Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Portland, OR.

And then there were the worst places.

They found Chula Vista, CA, to be the city least conducive to a staycation.

That was followed by Fremont, CA, Laredo, TX, Anaheim and Fresno, CA.

According to WalletHub, many people are taking staycations because summer travel is expensive again this year.

The average vacationer plans to spend $1,246 per person this year. WalletHub says that amounts to a 9 percent increase from 2013, an increase that is likely due, in part, to a rise in hotel and airfare prices.
