CHICOPEE, MA (WSHM) -

The onramp from Route 116 to Interstate 391 southbound will be closed and a portion of the highway will be limited to two travel lanes for four weeks while MassDOT conducts bridge repairs.

The Chicopee Street onramp, which is near exit 3, will close June 10 for repairs to be made to the bridge carrying I-391 over Route 116, according to MassDOT officials.

Concrete repairs and the replacement of the waterproof membrane are necessary, according to MassDOT.

After the repairs are complete, MassDOT will close exit 3 on I-391 southbound to allow for similar repairs.

Drivers are encouraged to reduce speeds when traveling through the work zone. Also, MassDOT had told driver to allow for extra travel time as a result of the reduced lane capacity.
