Former Lee County Trojan Justin McCalvin has signed with the Tampa Bay Rays.
The organization selected McCalvin in the 19th round of the MLB Draft earlier this month.
McCalvin will forego his senior season at Kennesaw State, and join the Rays' advanced rookie affiliate in Princeton, WV this week.
The righty set the Owls' single-season saves record in 2014 with 16 and led the team with a 2.21 ERA, as KSU reached the Super Regionals in their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
Financial details of the deal have not been released, but McCalvin says he's satisfied with his decision.
"I'm happy with what I got," he told WALB's Jake Wallace via text message.
