(WFRV/CNN) - A Wisconsin man is trying to find the owner of a piece of jewelry bearing the name of a U.S. soldier.

The metal band bears the name of Staff Sgt. Steven Hastings.

It's also stamped with the date Hastings disappeared in Vietnam.

Hastings was on board a helicopter that crashed during a rescue operation. His fate remains unknown.

The bracelet was found along a trail in Wisconsin.

A veteran's service officer tracked down a relative living in California, but Hastings' brother says the bracelet isn't his.
