Temperatures level off, Rain chances continue

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

In the days ahead we will see temperatures level off in the upper 80s and lower 90s in the Upstate. For western North Carolina, we will remain in the mid-80s. These temperatures are right around normal for much of the month of July. The presence of rain chances however, may give us a slightly wetter than usual few weeks.

The Climate Prediction Centers six to 10 day outlook has the western Carolinas likely seeing close to normal temperatures while precipitation looks to be above normal in the forecasted period.

We are seeing this pattern begin today as we look to see partly to mostly cloudy skies with scattered storms developing in the afternoon. Winds are breezy with gusts up to 18mph. Highs are climbing near 90 in the Upstate, and low-80s in the mountains.

Later this evening we will see partly cloudy skies return with a few lingering showers and lows in the 60s to near 70. Thursday will continues to see rain chances throughout the afternoon under a mix of sun & clouds and highs reaching the 80s area wide.

We dry things up slightly for Friday and Saturday as skies open up to more sunshine and temperatures return near 90 in the Upstate, and in the mid-80s in the mountains. Sunday looks to bring partly to mostly cloudy skies with slightly higher rain and thunderstorm chances. Temperatures will reach the mid-80s to low 90s.

This upcoming Monday can see mostly cloudy skies and a few showers early, with a good chance for rain in the afternoon and evening. Highs reach the mid-80s to low 90s. Tuesday will likely be dryer with highs in the mid-80s to low-90s.

Once again, temperatures will likely remain within a few degrees of the normal afternoon highs we see throughout the month of July, however, the constant rain chances can cause us to see a little more rain than usual.
