TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Alabama defensive tackle Jarran Reed was arrested by the Tuscaloosa Police Department Sunday morning on a DUI charge.

The incident happened on the 2400 block of University Blvd in downtown Tuscaloosa.

A Tuscaloosa Police Department spokesperson says an officer observed a 2011 white Dodge Charger, driven by 21 year-old Jarran Kentrel Reed, backing out of a parking space at the same time as another.

The two cars collided but the the white Dodge Charger continued to the parking lot exit until an officer told the driver to stop the car.

Sgt. Brent Blankley with TPD says the officer made contact with the driver and immediately smelled an odor of alcohol coming from inside.

Following a field sobriety test, Mr. Reed was taken into custody under suspicion of driving under the influence.

He was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail pending a $1,000 bond according to the Tuscaloosa Police Department.

Dylan Thompson threw for three touchdowns and No. 24 South Carolina's maligned defense stood strong on a fourth-quarter goal line stand to topple No. 6 Georgia 38-35 on Saturday night.
No. 24 South Carolina's defense showed it's not nearly as bad as it looked two weeks ago - and maybe that No. 6 Georgia isn't the runaway favorite in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division.

Georgia can establish itself as a top-tier beast if it gets by South Carolina this weekend - and USC would drop to 0-2 in the league with a loss. Tennessee travels to Oklahoma, where Coach Bob Stoops doesn't believe the SEC is all-powerful.
