GAZA (Al Aqsa/CNN) - Israeli defense forces have launched a ground operation into Gaza.

A Hamas spokesman tells CNN the ground operation is "a dangerous step with unknown consequences. Israel will pay a heavy price for it."

This operation follows 10 days of bombings and airstrikes by Israeli forces.

The raids began after three kidnapped Jewish teenagers' were found dead.

At least 230 people have been killed in Gaza since air attacks began nine days ago. One Israeli has been killed.

During a cease fire overnight, at least three mortar shells were fired from Gaza.
