WILLIAMSVILLE, MO (KFVS) -

Mark Twain National Forest is looking for volunteers to participate in developing a plan to compensate for the loss of the historic Fuchs Barn.

The barn is a historic building constructed by the Fuchs family in 1946. It is located at Mark Twain National Forest's Markham Springs Recreation Area near Williamsville, Missouri.

The barn is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

The stability of the barn has been declining since 2011. A portion of the barn has collapsed during recent rain, causing it to be a public safety hazard.

If interested in the project, you can contact William MacNeill at Mark Twain National Forest's Eleven Point Ranger District office in Doniphan at 573-555-2120 or by e-mail at wlmacneill@f.fed.us.
