Suspect in hijacking, armed robbery taken into custody

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

The Carbondale Police Department says a man is in custody in connection with a hijacking and armed robbery.

On Tuesday, Carbondale police received a report an armed robbery that happened on Aug. 2 in the 500 block of East Russell Street.

Officers say two people got into an argument before one of them allegedly showed a gun and stole personal items.

The suspect, Kevin Pruitt, then got into the victim's vehicle and drove off.

On Thursday, Pruitt was found by officers in the 1300 block of East Main Street.

He was booked into the Jackson County Jail. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

The vehicle involved, described as a black 2002 Pontiac Bonneville with Illinois license S870964, hasn't been found.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
