Man accused of leaving the scene of a crash in Murphysboro

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) -

A man is accused of leaving the scene of a crash that happened on August 1.

According to Murphysboro police, William Zachary Gale, 27, was charged with driving while license suspended, operating uninsured vehicle, violation of classification of driver's license, expired registration, and leaving the scene of an accident.

The crash happened near the intersection of N. 15th St. and Pine St.

When officers arrived at the scene of the crash on Aug. 1, they could not find the driver of a motorcycle, or any other involved drivers.

Officers talked to Gale on Monday and took him into custody. He was charged and posted bond.

Officers are still trying to find the other vehicle involved.

Police are looking for a White Chevrolet S-10 truck or GMC Sonoma. Witnesses say the elderly man in his 50s to 70s was involved.
