Cell phone videos net arrests in 2 Ozark child sex assault cases

Two men are in custody following investigations in unrelated cases of sexual abuse against children. In both cases, parents discovered cell phone videos of their kids being assaulted by an adult suspect, Ozark police say.

The first case started on May 16 when a parent contacted authorities after uncovering video of their 14-year-old daughter and a 31-year-old man engaging in sexual intercourse.

During the investigation, the suspect was identified as Jimmy O'Neil Regan, of Ozark. He was arrested on August 6 and charged with first and second degree rape as well as incest. Regan is being held at the Dale County Jail without bond.

Despite being unconnected cases, on the day Regan was arrested another call was made to police by a concerned parent after they found sexual video on a phone involving their 12-year-old daughter and a 28-year-old man.

Just hours later, investigators took Joshua Jernigan, of Ozark, into custody and charged him with second degree rape. He, like Regan, is being held at the county jail without bond.

Investigators would not provide any other details about either alleged crime citing the sensitive nature of the cases.
