NEAR ELLENSBURG, WA (KEPR/CNN) - Firefighters in Washington state have their hands full, battling a dozen wildfires across the state.

Crews say they're starting to gain the upper hand on about half of them.

The so-called Snag Canyon fire started more than a week ago and has since burned about 9,400 acres. Firefighters said Sunday the blaze, believed to have been caused by lightning, was 25-percent contained.
