RIVERPORT, NOVA SCOTIA (CBC NEWS/CNN) – The emails are still filling up Katie Moreau's inbox – a whirlwind couple of weeks, sparked by a summer vacation.
"I think there's no words to describe it. I just don't know how to feel about. It's just crazy. It's bizarre, that's the word I've been using - it's bizarre,” Moreau said.
Two weeks ago, Moreau sat on a plane next to Jamie Kelly, who headed back to Ireland, his home country.
The two got along great, but didn't swap contact information. That's when Kelly's friends started that now famous international campaign to find her again.
It didn't take long for word to reach back to Moreau, who was shocked, but in a good way.
"It was great, it was nice to know that as much as I felt the connection, that he also felt it," Moreau said.
Moreau then found herself in the middle of a reality TV Show, with thousands of people rooting her on.
She and Kelly were reunited on a national radio program, set up on a so-called dream date. The couple were treated to surf lessons, a fancy meal and limo service.
So what were the first words they said to each other after reconnecting?
“Hi,” Moreau said with a laugh.
While Moreau was away, she had no idea how popular the story had become, making headlines in the U.S. and Portugal – even in China.
"Everybody thinks we're in love, but nobody can know if they're in love in two days, so we'll see,” Moreau said. “I think people just love a romantic story – I know I do.”
It seems the set-up worked. The pair chat online every day, but there are no trips to Ireland anytime soon.
Moreau will spend the rest of the summer at home with her dog before heading back to Toronto to finish her Masters' degree.
As for when Moreau and Kelly may cross paths again, she says that is up in the air.
