Crews help man trapped under bush hog mower

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Crews responded on Tuesday, Aug. 12 to help a man who was trapped under a bush hog mower.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, dispatch received the called from the man saying he was trapped under the mower, but was not injured. He said he just needed help.

Deputies along with the Jackson County Ambulance Service and members of the Murphysboro Pomona and Somerset Township Fire Department responded.

The sheriff's department said Albert Nance was bush hogging around a very secluded field on Frosty Lane outside of Pomona, Ill. when the bush hog mower broke down.

Nance said he was trying to fix the mower when it suddenly trapped him underneath it. He was able to use his cell phone to call 911 for help.

Due to the extremely rough conditions, the sheriff's department said only SUVs and pick-up trucks could get to the area where Nance was found. The bush hog mower was lifted off of Nance, which allowed him to crawl out by himself.

Nance was believed to be uninjured after being checked out by paramedics.
