Board meets, discusses possible disciplinary action against only officer

EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU, IL (KFVS) -

He's been on the job less than a year and residents say they need him in town, so why is East Cape Girardeau's sole officer at odds with his own village board?

On the second page of the village board's agenda, it shows the board going behind closed doors to talk about Chief William Gibson's performance and taking disciplinary action against him. Then, they'll go back on the record to vote on whether or not to discipline hime.

We talked to Gibson in April when he went full-time.

Gibson said he got his one-man department up and running last November. He's written more than 870 tickets, many of them to people driving into East Cape Girardeau late at night to visit The Pony, a strip club that stays open until at 4 a.m.
