CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) -

A man and a woman were seriously injured during a shooting late Tuesday night in Charleston.

Robert Hearnes, director of the Charleston Department of Public Safety, said officers were called to 208 Morgan Street around 11 p.m.

The initial investigation shows the suspect or suspects walked around the home and fired multiple rounds through the door and windows.

A 38-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were inside the home and were hit by the bullets. Both were taken to local hospitals and are in critical condition.

Police say shots were also fired into a home at 210 Morgan Street. A female and her two-year-old daughter were inside that home but neither were injured.

Hearnes didn't say what led to the shooting but he did confirm no one is in custody at this time.

The Missouri Highway Patrol was called to assist in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Charleston DPS at 573-683-3737.

Officials say a reinstatement of a curfew is being considered by the City Council if more acts of violence occur.
