MO community remembers boy with baseball tournament

EAST PRAIRIE, MO (KFVS) - Family, friends, and community members came together Saturday for a baseball game to remember an East Prairie, Missouri boy that died last year.

Michael Paul Shands was diagnosed with Leukemia and died in February of 2013.

His death made a big impact in the community - which is still is remembered.

Dozens of people came out to Simpkins Park in East Prairie, Missouri to an organized baseball tournament to raise funds for the foundation.

Hundreds of dollars was raised. Folks shared stories about their experiences with Shands affected their life.

Money raised will go towards the Michael Paul Shands Foundation.

Funds from the event will be sent to Children's Hospital in St. Louis where Shands died from cancer.
