Southeast offers Ferguson area students option to move in early

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The president of Southeast Missouri State University sent a letter Monday to around 300 Southeast students living in and near the Ferguson-Florissant area allowing them to move in to residence halls two days early.

The letter, signed by Dr. Kenneth Dobbins, acknowledges the "challenging and difficult past week" and extends an invitation for new and returning students living in and near the Ferguson-Florissant vicinity to move in on Tuesday, Aug. 19 after 1 p.m. at no additional cost.

"You, your family, and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers," Dobbins said in the letter. "We look forward to welcoming you back to campus this week."

On-campus dining service will be available to students beginning Tuesday evening in Towers Cafeteria and the University Center as part of a regular meal plan.

Those planning to arrive on campus early are asked to call the Office of Residence Life at (573) 651-2274. Students must come to the Towers Complex at 1000 Towers Circle to pick up room keys.

Informal welcome meetings will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Towers Cafe and 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the University Center South Dining Room to meet other students and learn about services available that week.
