2 arrested after car, TV, phone stolen from elderly woman

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Two people were arrested after several items were stolen from an elderly woman in Cape Girardeau on Sunday.

An elderly woman living in the 500 block of N. Spring reported to police that she was robbed.

She told police she allowed a man and woman into her home to get a glass of water. The victim said that she recognized the man as being with family members in the past.

Once inside, the man pushed her to the floor and the two suspects stole a television, wallet, cellphone and then took her vehicle and left.

Napoleon A. Cornelius Jr., 18, from Cape Girardeau and Britney L. Morse, 22, from Perryville were arrested at a local hotel on Monday morning.

Both were charged with class B felony robbery in the second degree and class B felony of burglary in the first degree.

They were being held at Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department on $75,000 bond.

The elderly woman sustained injury to her hip and had to be transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment.
