Customers can send airtime to phones in 80 countries.

London, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 21 August 2014

WorldRemit, the online money transfer provider, announces that customers in Taiwan can now send mobile recharge to friends and family overseas.

Customers can send airtime to 80 countries, with money being added instantly to recipients pre-paid phones.

WorldRemits founder and CEO, Ismail Ahmed said, Mobile airtime is a key part of our modern, connected world. For billions of people it is a means of accessing employment, healthcare and financial services, as well as their gateway to the internet.

However, until recently it was extremely difficult to send an airtime recharge to someone in another country. Now, with WorldRemit the process is not only simple, but also fast, secure and free of transfer fees.

Of the worlds 6.9bn mobile connections, 77% are pre-paid.

The number is expected to remain stable over coming years, with an estimated 76% of people using pre-paid connections by 2017, according to GSMA intelligence.

Africa and Asia currently have the highest proportion of pre-paid phones at 96% and 82% respectively.

WorldRemit allows mobile recharges to be sent from a computer, smartphone or tablet.
