I-24 lanes back open after crash in McCracken Co.

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

East and westbound traffic I-24 is back open after a crash in McCracken County, Kentucky.

According to a state transportation spokesperson,  the wreck happened at the 8 mile marker shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.

According to the sheriff's office, 38-year-old Christopher Schlachter from O'Fallon, Illinois was traveling east bound on I-24. He was diving a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban owned by 65-year-old Jesse Adkins from Bellville, who was a passenger in the vehicle. The 3rd passenger was 21-year-old Cody Strunk from Shiloh.

According to witness's shortly after leaving the construction zone on I-24 they saw the 25 foot camper that Schlachter was pulling begin to sway from left to right.

Over a short distance the sway became more violent until Schlachter lost control of the Suburban. The vehicle flipped one and one half times coming to rest in the median.

Schlachter and Adkins were taken to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.

The second collision resulted at the same crash location when a semi began to roll forward and struck a Harley Davidson causing damage to it. Both drivers had pulled over to help.

Commercial Vehicle Enforcement inspected the semi owned by Metropolis Ready Mix. The operator of the semi was cited by CVE for issues discovered during the inspection.
