2 die after crash south of Murray, KY

MURRAY, KY (KFVS) -

The Kentucky State Police responded to a deadly vehicle crash on Aug. 25 around 7:19 p.m.

The crash happened on U.S. 641, about 3 miles south of Murray, Ky.

The preliminary investigation shows that Noah J. Rogers, 39, of Puryear, Tenn., was driving a 2008 Ford Mustang south on U.S. 641. Police say it drifted to the right side of the road, Rogers over-corrected and the car went off the left side of the road. It hit several trees and overturned.

According to police, Rogers was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected.

A 15-year-old passenger had to be removed from the vehicle. Police say the teen was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital and then airlifted to another facility where police say he died as a result of his injuries.

Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calloway County Coroner's Office.

Police say speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing by KSP.
