JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Region 8 businessman was honored by local veterans.

Members of the Disabled Veterans Group showed up at Glen Sain Chevrolet Friday morning to honor Danny Ford. The group was there to present him with a plaque for all the work he has done for our veterans.

DAV representatives said Ford has helped with several programs.

“He’s been instrumental in helping our hospice statue program, where we give statues to dying veterans and certificates,” said Representative Edd Cameron. “Also, our food basket programs and our visitations programs where we visit the veterans every year at Christmas time.”

Ford says it's the veterans that deserve the credit.

“I think sometimes, like I said before, people get too relaxed because we enjoy our freedom because of these people,” said Ford. “They're the ones that made it all possible for us and I think that's why people appreciate us mentioning troops from time to time because it kind of reminds everyone you know we wouldn't have this freedom if it wasn't for these people that served.”
