BENTON, MO (KFVS) -

Benton Neighbor Days featured one special guest that helped attendance this weekend - rain!

Rainfall overnight and Saturday morning helped cool temperatures down and saturated mud pits where they held a number of events.

Organizers say there have been thousands in attendance and attendance is up.

People have even come from as far as Nebraska just for this event.

Organizers say this is the featured event of the year for this area. Several organizations take part of the event which raise money for different causes.

The money the Chamber of Commerce raises helps to pay for different events and services throughout the city - like upkeep of parks.

People are encouraged to shake hands with other and say "howdy neighbor."

New federal regulations have changed what many kids who attend public schools eat for lunch at school. However, some area private schools don't have to follow those rules and have come up with their own new school lunch program.
