Marshall County family loses home to fire

MARSHALL COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

According to West Marshall County Fire Chief Brian Andrus, fire fighters were called out to a structure fire on Phelps Road at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Upon arrival, crews found the home was fully engulfed.

It was learned that two people and three pets were inside the house when the fire was noticed.

Those people and pets were able to get out of the house safely. There were no injuries.

The home is considered a total loss and the cause is undetermined at this time. Andrus says the Benton Fire Department responded along with the West Marshall County Fire Department.

The Lakeland Red Cross also responded and are assisting the family with living arrangements.

Clothing donations are being accepted and can be dropped off at the Morgan-Trevathan Apartments at 1003 Elm St. in Benton, Kentucky.

The fire is still under investigation.
