"Reporting live from the family reunion"...those words are tucked away on a VHS tape at Crystal Britt's mother's home in Mulberry Grove, Illinois.
At age nine she gave television a try. She was the reporter and her father served as a very proud photographer at the summertime family reunion. It wasn't until years later that Crystal realized what she loved doing as a young girl was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life.
Crystal joined KFVS12 in June of 2006 as a Weekend Anchor/Reporter. She comes to the Heartland from KWWL-TV, the NBC affiliate in Waterloo, Iowa. Crystal is an award winning journalist who spent five years covering politics, hard news, and stories of faith in eastern Iowa.
Crystal is a 1999 graduate from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She holds a Master's degree from the Public Affairs Reporting program at the University of Illinois in Springfield.
Crystal and her husband Matt grew up in Mulberry Grove, Illinois. It's a small community located about 50 miles east of St. Louis. Crystal and Matt have a four year old daughter named Sydney who keeps the couple very busy. Sydney will become a big sister in January 2010, when the family welcomes a second child.
Leo, the miniature poodle, makes their family complete. Crystal loves spending time with family, traveling, shopping, fishing and watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball.
