POTOSI, Mo. - It's a story that captured the nation's attention - the kidnappings of Shawn Hornbeck and Ben Ownby. Tuesday the Washington County Prosecutor announced seven new charges against 41-year-old Michael Devlin.

Besides kidnapping, armed criminal action and forcible sodomy, Devlin also faces an attempted murder charge involving Hornbeck.

That was a charge the Prosecutor would not elaborate on, simply saying Devlin attempted to suffocate Shawn. "I reasonably believe the investigation in Washington County as to Shawn Hornbeck's victimization is probably completed at this point," Prosecutor John Rupp said at a press conference in Potosi, Tuesday.

The charges Devlin faces in the Hornbeck case all date back to a one month time period immediately after the 11-year-old disappeared back in October, 2002.

Remember, though - Shawn was missing for more than four years. "If I make a determination there's probable cause that additional events occurred in Washington County - I would consider that," Rupp added.

The attorney representing Shawn Hornbeck - Scott Sherman, says his family found out a lot of the shocking details soon after they were re-united with him, and now they're relieved the rest of the world will get an idea of the terror their son put up with for four long years.

Meanwhile, investigators hope the interest this case generated continues as they now try tracking down Devlin's possible connection to other missing children -like a case in Michigan. "Steven Kraft was 12-years-old and there's basically a lot of similarities to previous young men taken from this area," Sgt. Al Nothum with the Missouri Highway Patrol said, speaking on behalf of the Special Task Force appointed to investigate Devlin. Investigators also hope photographs of Devlin dating back almost 20 years ago jar someone's memory. "If you let him stay in your home, stay in a cabin by the river, lake or campground -if you work in a motel and he checked in, let us know. Nothing is too small in this case," Nothum says.

Investigators also want to speak with anyone who might have any information on a pickup truck they believe belonged to Devlin at some point - a silver and grey Toyota with a white stripe, that had a camper shell on it.

They also want to speak to anyone who might have loaned Devlin any vehicles or might know of his many trips to Michigan. Devlin's family, police say spent vacations in Pentwater.

So, please call the Task Force at (636) 239-7614 or (636) 239-7496 if you have any information you think might help.
