Three Snoring Remedies: Does it Work for Your Health?
By: Lauren Keith

Today's special Does it Work Health test zeroes in on a problem in many relationships---snoring. It can be a real deal-breaker, and there are a bunch of over-the-counter products out there to help you stop snoring, and get your partner some shut-eye.

Thank goodness today's testers have a lot of laughter in their marriage, because snoring is the other sound you'll hear coming from one side of the bed!  For the last three weeks, they've been testing three different snoring remedies for us, so, let's hope something works!

By day, Dr. Ann Seabaugh treats many four-legged friends at La Croix Animal Hospital in Cape, and her husband, Wes, manages My Daddy's Cheesecake.  You'll find many tasty items here, but perhaps, snoring should be on the menu here!  When night falls, going to sleep is no piece of cake for this couple.

"I just go and sit in the office until I get so sleepy, I can fall asleep!" laughs Ann.

Ann even tells me she does not want to become one of those couples who sleeps apart, but from the way things sound, this couple may be headed down that road!  Even the cat runs for cover!

"If I sleep, which is a big 'if', I sleep on that side, and I have my little sound machine my sister got me for Christmas," points Ann.

Let's hope one of these three products works.  I have the Breathe Right Snore Relief Throat Rinse, the Breathe Right Nasal Strips and the the Snoreclicpse Plug.

"A lot of products focus on your nose, but your snoring comes from your throat and soft pallate, which is why the products don't often work," says Wes.

How does he know? Well, Wes has even been in a sleep study before.

"Maybe this will be the one?" questions Ann.

Ann and Wes think the "Breathe Right Snore Relief Throat Rinse" has the best chances of working because it focuses on the throat.  The other two focus more on the nasal passages.  I'm sure you've heard of the Breathe Right Nasal Strips before, but the next product is brand new.  The Snoreclipse is a magnetic ring you place in your nose, almost like a clothespin.  This way, you don't have to worry about nightly sprays, rinses, or strips.

"I've used the Breathe Right strips before.  I think it helped a little.  Then you just get lazy and don't want to put them on," says Wes.

But Wes promises he'll use each of the products several nights in a row for the next three weeks, and Ann will be on sleep patrol.

When I return, there's no doubt what works and what doesn't.

"Ok, don't waste your money on those!!" says Ann as she throws two products onto the floor and laughs!

"This Snoreclipse ring here doesn't do anything!  It's some magnet that's supposed to stimulate something--it doesn't do anything!  All it does is plug up your nose and allow your snoring to really come out of your mouth and throat even more!  Now, the Breathe Right Nasal Strips will open your sinuses to allow you to get more air, so you can get more rumbling from here, too!" says Wes.

So, we now know we can keep the Snoreclipse in the box it came in...it fails our test!

"Snoreclipse: F !" says Ann.

The Breathe Right Nasal Strips might work for those with sinus issues, but it didn't help in this case. It gets a D.

But, it's sweet dreams for the Breathe Right Throat Rinse and its grade A.

"It was noticeably less.  Not nothing, but noticeably less snoring," says Ann as she sighs a breath of relief!

That's enough to ensure a good night's rest for this couple and ace this Does it Work test.

I bought all of the products at Wal-Mart for under $10 each.  Many viewers have said if they're stuffed up with a cold or have sinus issues, the Breathe Right strips work for them, so maybe that's one you'll have to try, but our testers are "sold" and prefer the the Throat Rinse, which is also made by the same company.
