EZ Bundler: Does it Work?
By: Lauren Keith

I gotta admit the EZ Bundler looks pretty handy....at least for now, but let's see what Scott McClanahan and I find when we visit his back yard.  Scott recently cut down some tree limbs.  His family also recycles newspapers, so we have at least two uses for the EZ Bundler.

It takes a bit to load the clips.  These should help fasten our bundle.  Stringing the cord through this "gun contraption" is a different obstacle.

"What it does it twists on the back because it's been coiled up for so long," says Scott as he untangles the mess.  At this point, Scott and I are pretty skeptical.

We finally get the cord pulled through, but it's not like this gun--or whatever it is---actually advances it for you.  You have to physically pull enough through for your project. Then, when Scott gets ready to pull the trigger---or basically, clip the ends together....

"It broke!  It broke off!" he says.

On the next try, the clips get jammed!  Finally, we get it to work and we have a nicely coiled bundle of newspapers.

Still, don't hold your breath on the bundle of tree limbs.

"There she went!" says Scott as he picks up the tree limbs and the bundle clips snap, sending the limbs to the ground!

Good grief---a regular zip-tie would work better.  That's essentially what this is, but good ole' Billy Mays makes you think you'll have endless cord and this thing works in a zip.

"The actual strap is decent quality.  It's like a regular zip-tie, but I am not impressed with the clips.  It cuts them way to close to the end, and if the load is too heavy, it snaps and breaks!" he says.

By the way, you should see our pile of clips lost in the process when the gun jams...and believe me, it does.  You can reload the clips, but I wonder if it's worth your time.

"I'd rather buy a package of zip-ties, stick them together, knowing it'll hold," says Scott.

He admits....the product does work for the most part, once you get it going, but it's not a good buy in our opinion.

"I don't think it's a complete failure.  I'd stay with a 'D' range," he says.

I'll do that, but barely.  The EZ Bundler doesn't work as easily as it promises and for $21, the only thing it bundles is a D minus on this Does it Work test.
